Description
Xtentia was appointed as structural engineers to investigate and report on the historic Pretoria Magistrate court building structure after it was severely damaged by fire and subsequent weathering. We were required to carry out structural assessments, design a new roof structure and other structural elements to enable the restoration and rehabilitation of the building to its original condition.
The building is classified as a heritage building, and therefore we had to consider working carefully with the existing delicate structure to prevent further damage, but also ensure that the heritage and aesthetic appearance is preserved.
