Structural alterations and additions have the potential to evolve into complex projects that require specialist input to ensure that it is carried out safely and well designed. Among the many alteration and addition projects that we have carried out, some notable examples are as follows:
Cheng Penthouse
The Cheng penthouse project involves a luxury high-end penthouse constructed on top of an existing 7-storey building. The existing building was not designed for the additional penthouse loadings, and therefore the design required a complex challenge that involved shifting of certain column loadings from their positions to other locations by means of heavy-duty permanent jacking. The addition required a very high degree of engineering ingenuity and attention to detailing.
Oosterlig Alteration
The Oosterlig alteration required an existing residential property to be fully converted to a combination of offices and conference rooms. A challenge was to accommodate the increase in design loadings on the existing floors that were originally designed for residential usage. The revised floor layouts also required loadbearing walls to be demolished to suit requirements.
